Wedding Make Up: Getting Your Skin Ready for the Day

On your wedding day, you need to look your absolute best. This means your wedding make up needs to be perfect. Hopefully you have gone through a trial or two with your wedding make-up artist and she is ready to accentuate your very best features. Your wedding make up will only look the very best if you have prepared your skin and taken time to care for it in the months leading up to the wedding. A good skin care routine which includes daily cleansing and moisturising, weekly scrubbing and regular facials will ensure that you are glowingly beautiful on your wedding day!

Here are some tips and tricks to get you started:

  • Drink at least 2 litres of water every day to keep your skin hydrated and to flush out toxins.
  • Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Begin this as soon as possible and repeat twice a week. Whether you mix up a home-made treatment or splash out on a treat this will remove dead skin cells. Your skin will be left feeling soft and smooth. You could also decide to use a skin mask on your face afterwards, suited to your specific skin type.
  • Begin a routine of facials leading up to your wedding day. Aim to have at least one facial every month, six times before the big day. This will get rid of blackheads and dead skin cells, improve circulation and it will leave your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated!
  • Nearer to the wedding day have your eyebrows perfectly shaped. This will frame your face making a big difference to those all important wedding photographs!
  • Have your waxing or threading done at least 3 days prior to the day to allow your skin to recover fully.
  • Stay clear of new products in the weeks leading up to your wedding. The last thing you want is to have a reaction to a certain product leaving your skin irritated and inflamed.
  • Follow a three step skincare routine with products suited to your skin: morning and evening cleansing, toning and moisturising.

After all your hard work and effort, make sure to smile throughout your wedding day. Your wedding photographs will tell the story for many years to come…
