Wedding Make-Up: Natural or Bold?

You wedding make-up gives the finishing touch to your overall look. You have tried on your wedding dress numerous times before the big day, but you only have this one time to get your make-up right. Most brides now are opting to have a make-up trial before the big day, ensuring they have chosen the right look in advance. Whether you decide to bring in a wedding make-up artist or do your own make-up is your choice. Many brides feel more comfortable doing their own as they know what they like and what suits them. I know I myself would have to have someone on hand as make-up application never was my forte!

Your next decision is what type of look you want to go for. The natural seems to be a popular choice by brides, allowing the wedding dress to take centre stage. On your wedding day you want to look like yourself, yet as beautiful as ever. Therefore if you never wear bright coloured eye-shadow or lashings of black mascara, don’t start now! My favourite bridal look has to be a light brown smoky eye, a soft peachy blush, highlighter and an almost nude pink lipstick and gloss.

If you do want to add a little colour to your overall look. Why not go for a red lip. This lip colour allows you to have a bold look while still looking classicly elegant. Just make sure to double check those teeth before all photographs are taken! Our inhouse blogger and former Miss Ireland Emma Waldron took us through a wedding make-up tutorial using a red lip. Another tip, make sure that the colour foundation you are wearing matches up to your tan. Double check this by taking a photograph of yourself after your foundation has been applied. Sometimes the colour difference shows in photos, and nothing looks worse than a mismatching face and body.

Once you have chosen your wedding make-up look and are happy with it, relax and enjoy the moments. There are sure to be plenty of hands on the morning to help you look as beautiful as ever. That’s what your bridesmaids are there for!
