Wedding Planner: White Sage Events

1. I am a planner by nature so of course what you do tickles my fancy. What got you into this industry?

I’m a natural planner and that penchant for creating beautiful events is something that has always been hardwired into my personality. I worked in telecomms for years and after taking some time out going travelling, I spotted an ad online for a wedding planner’s apprenticeship. Went for it, got it, did some formal training with UKAWP and here I am.

2. Tell us about your favourite couples: what makes them great to work with?

Couples that come to me with an open mind and aren’t afraid to have a wedding that reflects their personalities. I get such a buzz working with creative couples so I get excited when they come to me with mood boards displaying their ideas. I love when I hear ‘different’ when referring to style!

3. Lemonade or Ginger Beer?

Zingy zesty Lemonade

4. When you are hungry you go to…

When I’m busy I forget to eat which is a bad habit of mine but when hunger takes over you’ll find me in La Cucina Best Italian food ever!

5. What keeps you awake with excitement?

Wedding ideas, business ideas, holidays, life goals, aspirations…I’m a bit of a dreamer.

6. To process life, what little corner will we find you in?

You’ll find me in the Positive corner. Big believer in keeping an open mind, working hard and being kind to people.

7. Tell us about one of the happiest moments of planning for you.

A recent one actually. Fabulous couple from the United States. She and her partner are coming to Ireland next month for a blessing in a beautiful walled garden, a very intimate, sweet, low key wedding. They had been married years ago and split up, then divorced. A few years later she got this very rare form of brain cancer and had to have surgery to remove a large tumour, lost her ability to speak, couldn’t do anything for herself. He never left her side, nursed her back to health and helped her learn to speak again. When I hear these stories I feel it’s such an honour to plan weddings like that, this ceremony is going to be so incredibly meaningful for them. It all boils down to love.

8. What wedding suppliers are really impressing you in the industry?

Suppliers that continue to push boundaries to create and offer something different; those that aren’t ringfenced in by stagnant trends and fads. I work with amazing talent here in Ireland, in particular the pedigree of amazing photographers…spoiled for talent!
