So you’re planning a wedding! Definitely an exciting time, but also a little daunting. If you have no experience in weddings, the idea of planning something all by yourself will come with it’s fair share of stresses. Where do you begin? We’ve asked Yvonne at the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny for her expert wedding planning tips.
Yvonne mentions that asking is crucial. “Ask questions! Don’t be afraid to ask the hotel or any supplier’s questions about an aspect of your day. We don’t expect them to know exactly what they want but we can help and guide them to the perfect day. This is a very exciting time for the couple, this is your day and our goal is to make it exactly as you dreamed it to be.”
She also notes that having a few wedding jitters is to be expected, mentioning,”every couple gets nervous before the big day. We always recommend our couples to keep the communication lines open, we let them know that we are only a phone call or email away from them. A wedding venue that has a reputation for delivering on promises, great communications and of course fantastic customer service (like us!) is always important.”
She also mentions that most couples will have the same worries: “Almost every couple worries about the same aspects of the day. They may ask,’what is the food like?’, ‘will there be enough food for everyone?’, ‘will there be seconds offered?’, ‘will everyone enjoy themselves?’ Our answer to these questions is yes! Trusting your initial decision is important as well as your instincts. We have built up a strong reputation for weddings and we offer that something special that every hotel just can’t achieve; we are an Irish, family owned and run hotel.”
For letting loose, Yvonne recommends hitting the dance floor with a song she thinks should be played at every wedding. “Simply the Best by Tina Turner! It’s an instant crowd pleaser!”
