Can you picture the entire ‘look’ of your wedding but are just not so sure how to create it? Look no further than wedding stylists Pearl & Godiva! I managed to catch a few moments with Pearl herself to find out more about what she loves to do for brides and grooms out there.
1. Pearl, How would you describe a Pearl & Godiva Wedding?
Really a Pearl & Godiva wedding is a reflection of the couple, not of us! We love to co-create a stunning wedding but the inspiration is always from the couples themselves. After all, we are there to enhance their perfect day and to make it truly personal and memorable experience.
2. How do you work with the bride to plan her dream wedding?
At Pearl & Godiva we believe in finding each couples personal style and help bring that to life for their oh-so special Big Day. Whether it’s bohemian, classic, modern, DIY, minimal or eclectic, we can help your day reflect your personalities, and wow your guests too!
From initial consultation all the way through to the big day, we work closely with our couples to make their dreams come true. Together we develop their concept, create their styleboard, refine their colour palette, toss idea’s back and forth… and then bring it all together on the day itself.
On the Big Day we take a hands-on role in coordinating the design aspects of the wedding. It means that when you arrive you don’t have to worry about a single detail, we’ll have it covered.
3. What is your personal favourite wedding theme?
Oooh, great question! I actually love quite loose themes that aren’t constrained. I find these sorts of weddings so interesting and surprising, and they bring a lovely energy too. It’s possible to tie everything together with a repeated motif, a tonal palette or even a mood, just don’t be afraid to experiment a little.
I love playful use of colour through fabric, the flowers and lots of textures and colours. I have always adored pre-loved items and I’m drawn to things that are perfectly imperfect. I also love lots of personal touches, I think they bring an intimate feel to the day.
4. If you could wake up anywhere in the world tomorrow morning where would it be?
Caye Caulker in Belize. It’s a tiny ramshackle Caribbean island where my husband proposed, it’s so gorgeous and unpretentious, like it doesn’t even know it is a little piece of paradise.
5. If you could give a bride just one wedding tip what would it be?
Take one step at a time. That goes for the planning as much as the day itself. The whole task can be overwhelming so take everything as it comes and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Everyone says the day passes in a flash, and they’re speaking the truth! It truly is the best day of your life, take it all in and enjoy every minute.
6. Why wedding styling?
If you are looking for help to create the wedding of your dreams but don’t know where to start or how to go about it, then talk to a wedding stylist. You may be a bit artistically-challenged or have lots of ideas but are overwhelmed on how to make it come together, or even just short on time. Included is all concept creation for your big day, a style board, colour palette, a consultation, also liaising with our in house team – an uber talented flowersmith, cake designer, and stationer, and together we work to bring to reality your ultimate dream. – We also have to offer an in house lighting designer and set builder {with whose help we can create anything be it a unique ceremony backdrop, a bespoke quirky photo booth or anything else on the wishlist}. We can guide you with beautiful art direction for photography on your big day – styling and setting a look/shot that is totally tailor made for you and your partner to be and will provide mesmerizing memoirs for you both.
7. What is your most treasured item you own?
My family, health and happiness.
8. What do you like to do on a Sunday morning?
On a Sunday morning I like to have a breakfast of Lazy Eggs Benedict (I call it that because the only thing true to the recipe is the poached eggs!) and lots of coffee. My Beloved and I then wrap up warm and take a walk on the beach with Hamish, our Irish Red Setter. A perfect Sunday revolves around mealtimes and catching up with friends and family… bliss.
9. Cosmopolitan or mojito?
Mojito, no contest!
