We have to say, we pretty much always love talking about upcoming wedding trends. Since weddings can be a long process, a lot of trends tend to stick around for a number of years. So when we see a new craze trickle in, we love to see where it will go next. With the help of Jenny from Johnstown House, here are some of our favourite possible trends for 2015.
The Two-Day Wedding
We love the idea of an after-party and with the last days of summer coming to an end, we can see why a BBQ is one of the most popular options. Jenny mentions that they are usually a stress-free affair as well:”Two day weddings seem to be an absolute must now with summer BBQ’S on the second day being incredibly popular. What I see more increasingly now is where the hotels organise a two day stay with a BBQ package and offer it to the guests – which in fact means the guests effectively pay for the BBQ but instead of turning people off this seems to result in higher numbers attending the BBQ as the guests feel they are not “putting” extra costs on the couple.” We love the casual atmosphere and we can’t wait to see more of these in the future.
Outdoor Ceremonies
A great achievement for Ireland this year, is the legal approval of outdoor weddings. It probably doesn’t take a crystal ball to know that we will probably be seeing a lot more of these in 2015, but Jenny mentions it may also come with a few issues.”It’s probably the idea of it more than the reality – funnily for the guests it can mean a challenge for high heel wearers or the ladies who choose not to have any throw or bolero with them. The trick here for couples will be to be well prepared and have a plan b. This includes maybe having blankets or wraps for your guests, water bottles, insect spray and shelter incase it rains (which it very well could!).”
Groom Getting Involved
Once upon a time, it was considered that the bride would be the wedding planner and organiser, but Jenny notes that there is a very refreshing growing trends for Irish weddings. “Grooms are taking over! I have noticed a significant increase in grooms who take charge of organizing the receptions; this can lead to more of a themed wedding as they seem to like to bring in their own or shared interest like sports, movies etc into the day. Some of the chaps are incredibly organised and because they are not worrying as much about their own outfits etc, this can give them more time and energy to organise.” Love it, long live the involvement of grooms!
Thanks again to Jenny at Johnstown House for the great tips! Very excited to see if we will be talking about these next year.
