DIY is everywhere. It is covered over countless blogs and websites as well as being a huge part of internet culture. There is no doubt in our minds that wedding DIY has taken over in the US. There are so many amazing wedding blogs (that we love!) who are bringing DIY to brides. The best thing about these tutorials is that they don’t always need fancy tools that you definitely will never find in your area. There really are tutorials out there for every kind of bride.
But as much as these DIY tips are so easily accessible and available, we have noticed that Irish brides aren’t as in love with DIY as such. Forgive us for being blunt about this but it seems that for some reason, some Irish brides just shy away at the thought of any DIY at their wedding. Is it that DIY seems like we’re too cheap to pay for table décor and invites? Or is that it’s a lot of hassle? Or does it just give us flash backs to Drawing with Don and Bosco arts and crafts disasters?
Well, before you recoil in terror at the thought of your crafty décor looking silly or cheap – hear us out! DIY does not have to be complicated or cheap looking. It can look professional and be easy! And it really doesn’t have to be a chore (besides that’s what your bridesmaids are there for!)
The best thing about DIY weddings is that if you are genuinely looking for something different you can get that. The buyer’s market in Ireland is still quite small for wedding products here but online shops like Etsy can really give some great choice not to forget the tips you can find on Pinterest.
For wedding DIY specific tips try blogs like Oh Lovely Day, who provide really simple wedding DIY tutorials like this one:
Blogs like Once Wed also have really simple and chic wedding DIY tips. How fun is this table number décor? Probably for the more tenured DIY bride, this tutorial would look beautiful at an 1920’s inspired wedding!
So, our advice would be to give wedding DIY a go! The worst that can happen is that it really will look like something from an episode of Bosco and in that case all you need to do is throw it out!
