It’s true, most people really don’t like getting their photo taken, especially at weddings. Few are photogenic enough to bravely stare a lens down and fee happy with it. Whether you’re a bride or part of the bridal party, the chances are slim that you will be able to dodge the camera. Well, fear not! Here are a few very simple tricks to make you look good in ever wedding photo:
Learn From The Best
We’re not saying sit in front of hours practicing your ‘Magnum’ pose or anything but there is a lot to be learned from celebrities and models. Try the classic red carpet pose (get someone to take a photo of you doing it too):
- Stand with your hips at a 45 degree angle from the camera.
- Put your weight on your back foot while elongating the other leg and cross it in front.
- Place your hand where comfortable and remember to smile!
Prepare and Practice
A lot of bad photos often come down to not being prepared enough to handle the photos of the day or not feeling comfortable with your wedding photographer. Try out something like an engagement shoot as part of your wedding package. Meet your photographer a few times beforehand to make sure you have chemistry and he will be able to get the best out of both of you.
Contouring and Fake Tan
Take a leaf out of Kim K’s book and ask your Make up Artist to contour your face and arms as part of your makeup routine. Camera flashes (especially digital) can have a very strong white flash that tends to flatten out the natural contours of a face in photos. Target this with a slightly darker contouring of the chin, cheek bones, nose and forehead. Fake tan can also give a similar effect!
Be Yourself
Don’t underestimate how beautiful you can look when you’re just laughing or being yourself. Sometimes, getting nervous about taking a photo can end up with you having stilted photos. Just remember to look into your loved ones eyes and be happy for the day that’s in it!
