Amber and Matthew's Big Day in Powerscourt House & Gardens

Amber & Matthew were married on March 29 2014 in the phenomenal Powerscourt House & Gardens, Co. Wicklow wedding venue. Such a beautiful couple, who look so in love. The wonderful photography was done by Suzanne Toal of Zanni Photographic.

“Powerscourt is such an incredible location for a wedding, we love that it’s the total package. From the imposing building, manicured gardens, beautiful waterfall and exquisite food you couldn’t go past it.”

“We got engaged on Christmas Day 2012 and I started planning immediately. We were planning the wedding for roughly 15 months in total.”

“For our wedding menu, we decided to bring our parents to the menu tasting, which was exciting and a lovely piece of the planning to share with them. My family has always loved cooking (we are bakers by trade) and would consider ourselves foodies so it was important not only to have good quality, tasty food, but to make sure we had something all of our guests would enjoy. Matthew can never go past a good piece of bacon, but I knew a lot of my family didn’t eat red meat so we decided to give our guests an option and chose a Chicken dish also. We also chose a light starter (Chicken Ceasar Salad) knowing what was to come with a trio of deserts.”

“The gardens and house at Powerscourt are amazing backdrops for photos, the choices are endless! We primarily used the stairs, Japanese Gardens, Pepper Pot Tower and the Water Fall.”

“We really just wanted to make the day as personal to us as possible. I’m not into fuss and clutter so it was important for me that things were displayed nicely and our guests had space to move and feel comfortable. During the wedding preparations I did a lot of research for ideas and fell in love with ‘Tree’ centre pieces so this was a must have! I kept all the flowers white and added lots of candles to warm the room. We also put photos around the Garden view rooms of us as children and as a couple which was a nice touch. My Dad and Matthews Granny and Aunt had recently passed away, so as a final touch, we made up cards (for each place setting) in memory of our loved ones who couldn’t be with us with a promise to make a donation to the Irish Cancer Society on behalf of all our guests.”

“I got my wedding dress in Australia. I found it in a wedding shop boutique in Perth. I had a style of dress I thought I really wanted, but when the girl showed me this dress I knew it was ‘the one’. It is actually a very pale shade of pink called Tea Rose. The Shop was called Tuscany Bridal.”

“It’s hard to pick one thing that stands out as my favourite part of the day. But if I really had to choose I think it was probably walking into the Ballroom for the first time and seeing our vision come to life. Matt always talks about my face and says if he could bottle my expression at that moment he would….he says I did a little happy skip!”

“If I could relive just one moment it would be walking down the isle and seeing Matt’s face. He simply just said ‘WOW’ when I got up beside him. I think we both had smiles from ear to ear.”
