Actons of Kinsale is such a fabulous venue, but, do you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of a top knotch spot such as Actons Hotel? We caught up with Mary K’ O Donovan at the hotel to give us an inside peek of their beautiful venue…
Actons of Kinsale is such a stunning property, what is your favorite feature to show off to couples who come in?
Since we’ve only re-opened in March after our extensive refurbishment, I am really proud to show our Actons to prospective couples. Both the Kinsale Suite and Bridal Suite have a really comfortable yet luxurious feel to it, we now have several areas to offer for arrival drinks receptions, so it really is very difficult to choose one!
You work with couples every day, what are some of your favourite wedding trends this year so far?
I see Brides and grooms more often now day’s doing a lot of DIY weddings which I personally really like as it really adds individually to each wedding. For example designing own table plans and own centre pieces… the list is endless really.
What do couples love most about your hotel?
Views of the marina, enclosed gardens, and overall character of the hotel. I also feel couples also really prefer to deal with one contact from initial enquiry to the day of the wedding.
Can you give us examples of some wedding menus you might find at your hotel?
Terrine of Confit Duck and root vegetable , green beans and celeriac puree

The day of a wedding must be busy and exciting in Actons Hotel after months of planning with couples?
Extremely, I am very blessed to have a strong experienced team behind me, which makes from set up to service like a well-oiled machine.
Actons of Kinsale must have so many gorgeous sites, where are the best spots for couples to snap their wedding photos?
Mast across the road from the hotel which can get images from across the harbor and also with hotel in background. We have stunning landscaped gardens in patio area of the hotel which photographers like to make use of and also our bridal suite is a perfect backdrop.
