Just engaged or getting married soon? If you’re like us, the fear of a possible beauty disaster is probably taking over your life! I mean there are hundreds of niggling questions; how long in advance should I wax? Should I fake or bake when it comes to tan? We totally feel your pain as the countdown looms!
When it comes to looking and feeling great, only THE best will do. So, we caught up with the girls from the ESPA Luxury Spa at the g and they dished out some essential pre-wedding beauty tips.
Bridal Skincare & Well-Being Prep 101
Limit Time in the Sun
Where possible avoid being in sun during peak times – between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to ensure you have no sun discoloration or damage.
Use Sunscreen
Look for sunscreen/creams with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 20 or higher to keep your face, chest and shoulders in great condition and as unblemished as possible. Especially if you are going for a strapless gown!
Drink Plenty of Water
As we all know, dehydrated skin ages faster and keeping your skin moisturized from the inside out is the best tonic before your wedding.
Use Skin Polish/ Scrub Every 1 or 2 Weeks
Gently exfoliating your skin with products like ESPA Skin Refining Polish will keep it blooming and less susceptible to blocked pores which can cause blemishes. With ingredients such as Spherical Diatomaceous Earth to lift impurities and stimulate cell renewal and both Rose Damascena and Shea Butter to soften and revitalise, your skin will be brightened naturally.
Maintain a Balanced Diet
We can all indulge ourselves but it is best to initiate a balanced diet at least three months before your wedding where you reduce alcohol and sugar consumption as well as increase fruit, vegetables and oily fish.
Moisturize Skin Regularly
Use face and body moisturizer which suits your skin and has been recommended by a skincare professional. Our ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum is great option as it is enriched with nourishing Omega (3,6 & 9), Vitamins (A & E) and proactive natural extracts Turmeric, White Lupin and Sunflower to nourish and deliver naturally beautiful skin.
Take Extra Care of Your Eyes
There is nothing worse or more difficult to hide than dark circles and puffy eyes so it is essential to look after all parts of your skin before your wedding.
Begin Waxing & Using Body Scrubs 3 Months in Advance
Whilst we are not waxing specialists at the g Hotel, we would recommend you begin waxing three months prior to your wedding to ensure you have no reactions or perhaps consider laser treatment a minimum of six months ahead of your big day. For the final countdown, we suggest completing final preparations one week in advance.
Do NOT Use Last Minute Face & Body Polisher
This can remove tan by mistake and create unsightly patches. It could also cause irritation or redness!
Don’t Wax the Week Of
Definitely make sure this is done the week before, especially anywhere visible that can cause spots or irritation after waxing
Fake Tan Touch-Up Tricks
Avoid lathering on last minute fake tan. Use a make up brush to dab some last minute touches to smaller areas such as between your fingers. This is super easy and much more forgiving.
Take a Pamper Day Just for You
A spa day is always a nice treat, especially if you are feeling stressed from all your planning! We highly recommend our Duvet Day package – it is an all-day package which is perfect for some pre-wedding ‘me-time’. The Duvet Day Package includes the incredibly relaxing Thermal Spa experience which is followed by:
