We’ve all been there. You’re on the way rushing out the door to the hairdressers with minutes to spare. Or worse, you’ve over booked and have no time to leave the house. It happens to the best of us, so when we heard of the service Tricia is offering to her clients, we thought it was amazing and decided to chase her down. Who wouldn’t want to get their bridal hair sorted in the comfort of their own home!
Hi Tricia, a lot of hairdressers work from home but you take the haircut to the client! What gave you the idea for it?
It was never ‘the plan’ to go freelance, it just evolved after being asked to do bridal parties for some of my regular clients in their home/hotel on their big day, and before Iong it grew to such an extent I closed the salon and now it’s my full time job!
What’s a typical day like in the world of Munster Mobile?
Depending on the distance I have to travel I could be up at 5am, It can take anything up to 3 hours driving to get to my bride, I spend the whole morning with the bridal party ensuring the veil is in place and everyone is looking great going out the door. The evenings are spent doing trials, catching up on admin and working on a new side to the business ‘Lady Lucy rental headpieces’ I rent out designer pieces by ‘Jenny packham’ and ‘Halo and co’ to brides across Ireland and England.
When did you get started as a hairdresser?
I started hairdressing at 17, I was one of the luck people that knew exactly what I wanted to do, and thankfully it was the right decision, I have never looked back or worked a day in my life.
What inspires you?
Movies like ‘The Aviator’ and Great Gatsby, they are a feast for the eyes.
Who’s the most famous person you’ve worked with?
Most recently, I worked on the premier of Moone boy, so Chris O Dowd, David Rawle, Deirdre O Kane, Norma Sheahan and all the cast, they were such great fun to be around.
Favourite thing to do when you’re not helping brides prepare?
Coming up with new styles on my mannequin head named ‘Cordelia’!
What’s the most interesting or quirky hairstyle you’ve done recently?
I recently had a bride who did not opt to grow her hair for her wedding, she had a very short messy blow and wore a red dress!
Some brides hate up-dos. Do you have any good alternatives?
If you want Hollywood glam opt for vintage waves, if Bo-Ho is you thing get plaiting and messy, its quiet a sexy look. There are so many great options with your hair down then choose a down style. Don’t be afraid to say if you don’t like something, we rely on your feedback to get the perfect fit for you. Any lastly ENJOY it all from the planning stage to the day itself.
Lastly, any advice for brides on choosing a hairstyle?
Make the most of the assets you have. If there is a style you love but don’t have the hair to accomplish it, then get extensions. Hair does not need to be up for your wedding if you are more comfortable
