The Team

“At Butler House & Gardens we have two wedding co-ordinators that look after all of our couple’s needs, Deirdre Keating & Noreen Sweeney, with the combined hospitality industry experience of 42 years!”

The Planning Passion

“We enjoy being in the business of making dreams come true. The satisfaction this gives us is second to none!”

The Highlights

“Planning and delivering the day of our couples dreams-then exceeding their expectations…and everything in between.”

At Butler House

“We give our couples what they want to make their day special in a unique setting. Butler House is nestled in the heart of Kilkenny with a beautiful garden, steeped in history. At Butler House and Gardens, it is all about the bespoke experience, and we pride ourselves in offering something different.  Our Head Chef, Gerard Dunne, uses seasonal and locally sourced foods to give a superb dining experience to all our guests.”

A Word of Advice

“Enjoy the experience from the planning to the prosecco lunches, and on the day itself “what will be will be.'”

Favourite Memories

“Oh gosh where to start!  The most memorable wedding was one where it was totally unique. It was an Indian wedding where the ceremony was two hours long, and every little detail had a special meaning.

Head Chef Gerard Dunne says that when he was working on a cruise ship, they set up and served on a beach in the Mediterranean- everything had to come from the ship onto boats and setup on the beach, wow!

Our best shocking stories we have to tell are where cakes are involved, from lopsided cakes to uncooked cakes – our best advice we give here is to do your research thoroughly!”

Current Trends

“We like that couples want something different and individual for their big day, this is a perfect fit for Butler House. One of the biggest trends we are seeing that we like are the cheese wheel cakes made of Irish cheeses, sliced and served by a chef with grapes and crackers, yum!”

Favorite & Least Favourite Trends

“We also have seen a trend we do not like, but bear with us there is a reason – Candy Carts.  After the meal for late night sugar fix is great, but before the meal can ruin the Chef’s lovely food.”

The Strange or Unique

“We had a wedding here in Butler House, where instead of a cake we had small wedding treats that looked like truffles, but were sweet and savoury, delicious!  Guests helped themselves throughout their meal and the evening.  It was a traditional Philippine delicacy, and all decorated to look like flowers.”
