We all have dreamt of that designer celebrity wedding dress whether it be Dior, Vera Wang or Marchesa. My favourite part of the Sex in the City movie is when Carrie does the wedding dress photo shoot for Vogue. I was almost drooling at the amazing dresses and shots captured on screen!
While most of us dream of these designer wedding dresses, for others it is a reality. Once a celebrity ties the knot, the next question on everyone’s lips is “who did she wear?”. I decided to take a look at some of the most expensive celebrity wedding dresses ever worn, who designed them and who had the pleasure of wearing them.
Jennifer Aniston – Lawrence Steele $50,000
Jennifer looked amazing in a glass beaded silk and satin low back dress when she wed Brad in 2000. The question on everyone’s lips now is what type of dress will she wear when she marries Justin Theroux?!
Katie Holmes – Armani $50, 000
The bride’s off the shoulder dress was adorned with Valenciennes lace and Swarovski crystals. The designer also dressed the groom in a made to measure navy blue tuxedo.
Madonna – Stella McCartney $80, 000
When the pop princess married Guy Richie in 2000 she wore a dress designed by her dear friend Stella McCartney. The ivory silk gown had a long train and she accessorized with an antique veil and diamond tiara.
Victoria Beckham – Vera Wang approx $100,000
The style icon wore a strapless dress made of champagne coloured satin. We wonder if she were to get married now would she design her own wedding dress?
Catherine Zeta Jones – Christian Lacroix approx $140,000
The ivory beaded satin sheath gown had a lace train and low-cut bodice. The entire wedding to Michael Douglas is rumoured to have cost $1.5 million!
Kate Middleton – Alexander McQueen approx $400,000
Designed by Sarah Burton the dress was made from hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace. It also featured a train over 6 foot long.
