Are you looking for the perfect dress and need some inspiration? Well lucky for you we recently caught up with Marie of Marie McElheron Bridal Designs, Wicklow.
“The first visit to a bridal boutique can be very confusing due to the varied range of styles available. Most brides have some idea of what they like, or more often what they don’t like. “
Open Mind
“Keep an open mind and try different styles and shapes when you start looking and you will quickly eliminate certain silhouettes and start to narrow down the search. The bridal consultant should advise on the most flattering shape that suits.”
Too Many Cooks…!
“Don’t bring too many people at the beginning, as this can be more difficult as each person has their own personal taste. Bring one or two people that you trust and know your style. Just remember that every bride finds her perfect dress, so try to enjoy the whole experience.”
Inspiration
“There are some excellent bridal magazines and online sites to start your search and will get your mind overflowing with ideas. Sites such as Pinterest will allow you collect all your ideas that you find online. This is also the season for Bridal fairs which take place in most wedding venues across Ireland. Not only will you find inspiration for your dream wedding dress, but for all aspects of your wedding day.”
New Trends
“My own bridal gowns that I design and create from my studio in Wicklow are classic, timeless styles with subtle details, some what similar to the Augusta Jones collection. Another style that I love which is now very much on trend is boho. This is a much softer, unstructured look. The new and fresh bridal label ‘Ti Adora’ will be available from my boutique by December. It blends soft, vintage romance with the fresh, modern soul of todays bohemian bride.”
Augusta Jones
“Augusta Jones is the first collection I stocked when I opened my bridal boutique in Arklow and it is my favourite for many reasons. The designers Charlotte and June Leung have a fresh and contempary approach to designing wedding dresses. They create beautiful tailored wedding gowns with clean lines and they offer a wide range of silhouettes, fabrics and laces. The Augusta Jones collection is made to such a high standard and they use the the finest fabrics such as silk, satins and lace. As a designer myself I am always looking to stock collections that are made to this high standard. What makes the Augusta Jones collection really stand out from most others is the bespoke design service they offer, all their gowns are made to order so they will tweak or redesign dresses to suit each brides requirements.”
“My favourite wedding dress from the Augusta Jones collection is ‘Anna’ worn with a circular over-skirt. It is made from Mikado satin and in the most delicate blush colour. It is a strapless ballgown and it’s so elegant. The over-skirt creates a stunning silhouette. While lace is still very popular, the simplicity of the ‘Anna’ gown is exquisite.”
