Fifty years of tradition. The perfect wedding backdrop at Springhill Court

Kilkenny, the smallest city in Ireland, punches well above its weight in terms of an urban wedding destination. It’s awash with historic sites, and bustling restaurants and bars, and lots to do and see to entertain and enthral.  As you head out of town towards Waterford there’s a lovely spot to consider for your wedding celebration.  A place that you will be in really safe hands…

Love begins in a moment

On a crisp October day in 1974, Billy Purcell took Nora Coady’s hand and walked down the aisle to begin their married life. They put themselves into those safe hands and held their Wedding Breakfast at the Springhill Court Hotel. It was the first ever wedding there, and almost fifty years on, the hotel is still carrying that same tradition…

It’s your big day, and you want to be the centre of attention, enjoy the time with family and friends, and not worry about a thing. The team at Springhill Court are there to make sure of that. Just one wedding celebration per day guarantees that you get waited on hand and foot, and that no ask is too big or small.

The team is dedicated to making your wedding journey easy and a real dream come true.  Attention to detail is the norm, and they pride themselves on prompt responses to your queries, questions and worries, from your initial enquiry right through to your day of celebration and beyond.  Over the past 48 years, the experience gained is unparalleled in ensuring a stress-free, no-pressure wedding day for you and your partner.

The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies. They are happy to cater for any size guest list, offering an Intimate Wedding Package for those seeking a highly personalised celebration. And, Weddings from 50 people right up to 350 guests can be hosted in the elegant Tara Ballroom. If fairy lights, chandeliers and candelabras are on your wish list, you’re in the right place.  The Tara Ballroom opens out onto a new outdoor terrace, fantastic for a late-night BBQ or “Pig on a Spit” next day celebrations.

There’s a lovely curved pergola in the garden for photos, and a proper playground for your younger guests, sealing the hotel’s reputation of a truly family-friendly destination. The hotel is fully accessible for people with disabilities, and of course they will be happy to oblige with any specific requests or needs.

Lydia, Kerry and the full team at Springhill Court know just what you need to take the headache out of planning.  There’s a tonne of complimentary options for you red carpet with Lanterns on arrival, chair covers and gold sashes, fairy lights backdrop, the aforementioned candelabras, table top flowers, table plans & menus, cake stand and silver cake knife, menu tasting, bridal suite & prosecco breakfast, two complimentary guest rooms, 15 discounted rooms, 1st anniversary stay with breakfast and dinner and a bar extension. They really think of everything.

You’re in for a tasting treat once you’ve booked – The Tara package is a delight to read, includes extensive options to choose from such as 11 starters, nine different soups, six meat choices, including seasonal leg of Irish lamb. There are five fish choices, for example Escalope of Goatsbridge Trout – sourced from a local producer and four vegetarian options. Head chef Ken and his team source the freshest ingredients locally and are happy to cater for any allergies or dietary restrictions.  There are six impossible-to-choose desserts, but never fear there’s also the Springhill Symphony of Desserts, if you simply can’t make up your mind.

The great food extends to lovely lunches at Kupp Cafe or appetising afternoon tea which is a real treat at The Paddock Bar.  You can also catch live music in the bar at the weekend.

Recently extensively refurbished, the hotel has a contemporary feel but with that hint of tradition that Irish weddings are famous for. With 85 ensuite bedrooms, there’s an array of great facilities that guests can enjoy such as the fully equipped gym, the 19 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

Located just off Kilkenny’s Ring Road, Springhill Court Hotel is easily accessible from all major approach roads to Kilkenny and is within walking distance to the city centre. There’s lots of on-site parking available and free wifi – you’ll really have everything you need.

Combining tradition, love, great food and service, your wedding at Springhill Court will be a cherished memory for life.

Just ask Billy and Nora.
