Get Organised! How to Start Your Wedding Checklist!

Yeah! You’re about to be a bride soon. At the moment, whether you’re getting married in 2014 or even 2015, while it may seem like a million miles away, it’s not too far off. Think about it, how fast did 2013 fly by? So to get you started, you’re going to need a general road map to get yourself to the big day. After this, you’ll be able to plan month-by-month.

Here is a starting off point to your wedding checklist

  • Set up a wedding folder in your email to designate important documents, emails from venues and suppliers or inspiration.
  • Create an inspiration notebook or Pinterest board. Make notes as to what you like about the photos.
  • Talk budgets with your SF and family if necessary
  • Choose wedding colours
  • Pick a date (or suitable back-ups)
  • Interview wedding coordinators
  • Start a fitness plan
  • Research, MUAs, hairdressers, florists and any other venders yo will need
  • Book your ceremony. Some religions require a marriage counseling session first, so book as soon as you know your date/reception.
  • Begin a guest list
  • Choose your bridal party

Tips for Staying Organised

  • Prioritize: Are you looking for a wedding photographer when you don’t have a date/venue settled on yet? Some actions can only be taken on if there is another part of the puzzle for them to fit into. Sort out the major and basics first before getting deeper into plans.
  • Set yourself goals and incentives: Organising isn’t always easy. And personally, I need an incentive to get a job done. Whether it’s the satisfaction of ticking something off a list you make or treating yourself for getting everything done on time, make sure you set clear goals for what you want to achieve.
  • Track your progress: Google calendars, Wunderlist or even hand made notes are important, just make sure they’re all in one area.
  • Don’t carry all of the burden: There is no possible way you can plan every aspect of the wedding (and if you can… fair play!), the truth is you may need to call on the help of your bridal party of a coordinator.
