The Non Essentials List

Planning a wedding takes time, money, dedication and the patience of a saint! We all know you can save money by incorporating DIY elements into the big day, or maybe using a Spotify playlist instead of hiring a DJ to play until the early hours.

Today, we are checking out what parts of your wedding are not essential! We have made lists of the most important things to remember when planning your wedding. So, here are a few things that you might be able to do without:

A huge cake!

Now let’s just be clear, I did not say ‘no cake’! Couples can spend a small fortune on a huge cake, which depending on your guests may not be eaten. How about having a smaller cake to use for your pictures and hold your cake toppers, without the extra waste?

Wedding Favours

Many couples have been opting out of buying wedding favours. Many guests don’t take their wedding favours home, or mightn’t even notice if they didn’t get one! One of our favourites ideas is to get charity wedding favours and donating money to a worthy cause.

Decorations

There is no need to go over the top with the decorations. If you chose a wedding venue with great features and character, you can save on your décor spend. Guests don’t want to be leaning around towering table centrepieces to speak to their friends. Keep things simple. Less is more.

Some people will happily forgo the above elements, but others can’t even fathom a wedding without them. This is just a couple of items that can be considered non-essential. At the end of the day all you really need is yourself, your significant other and to be surrounded by loving family and friends.

Did you leave anything out of your wedding to save money?
