One Year before the Wedding

Congratulations!…… Lots of couples start planning their wedding day 12 months before the day (some couples do book further in advance). Now is the time to start researching your vendors, working on your budget and making important decisions.

Bridal Party
Decide on how many bridesmaids and groomsmen you would like to have. Who will be your Maid of Honour and Best man?

Budget
If you are only starting out on planning your wedding try to draw up a realistic budget. Ask yourselves some questions: What can you realistically afford? Are your parents going to contribute? What kind of wedding do you envisage and does it suit your budget?

The Ceremony
If you are getting married in a church you will need to check availability and book it. Meet with the priest/clergy and they will answer any questions you may have about the ceremony requirements. Do this as early as you can as you will have to complete the necessary paperwork required by the church and state

Pre Marriage Course
Book your pre marriage promptly. They book up really quickly so decide on this early on.

Reception Venue
Research the venues you have in mind for your wedding reception. Request brochures and availability of dates. Make appointments and meet with the various wedding venues. Don’t rush into a decision – take you time and weigh up everything for each venue.

Wedding Suppliers
Research photographers and book. Good photographers book up really quickly so if you have somebody in mind, don’t delay.

Music
Research bands and book. Consider your music tastes, the age demographics at your wedding, the style of the band and your budget.

Wedding Dress
This is the most exciting part! Remember to check if bridal boutiques require appointments. Bring one or two close female friends that will give you their honest opinion. If the shop assistant suggests you try on a dress that you haven’t necessarily picked yourself – go for it! You’d never know!
