As with planning anything, it can be very easy to start off on the wrong foot and become overwhelmed. When dreaming of your perfect wedding and fabulous ideas, getting carried away can happen very, very quickly. Here are some very easy planning mistakes a bride or groom can make before the wedding… and more importantly, how to avoid them!
Too many options – Decisions, decisions, decisions…
This can be a huge factor in any decision making. It is a fact that the more options anyone will have, the more difficult be to decide. The same goes for planning a wedding. While there is no easy way to try and cut down your own options before making a decision, choosing a specific theme and sticking to it throughout will help the process and help you to make definite decisions.
Taking on Too Much at Once
Planning a wedding requires just that… Planning and lots of it! It may seem obvious, but that means lots of preparation rather than, trying to do everything all at once. This is the first part of planning anything… scheduling what you need to do and when, as well as recruiting people to help can make the wedding planning a little easier. Don’t be afraid to delegate tasks, family and friends will be delighted to get involved and it might be lots of tiny jobs that could take you a week, but between everyone just one day!
Strict Shopping Budget
Is a second set of cufflinks for your groom and his best men THAT important? Or that third pair of ‘just in case’ wedding shoes? Your budget is decided on in at the beginning for a reason (and should also always allow for a little over spend!). Make sure you always have an item checklist of essentials and necessities with you if you’re out shopping and remember to keep all of your receipts in one place. Make a second list with items that can be bought if budget allows, but are not essential to the wedding day.
