some of my most vivid childhood memories centre around a mulberry tree in our garden and my mother’s button box. both bold with colour and possibility… perhaps the source of every dream i ever spun together.
and so what better way to spend my re-wedding day than re-living these memories and incorporating them into my decor and favours.
i can still feel the mulberry juice spilling through my fingers as i climbed higher and higher up into the branches. i would try to scrub it from my skin in the bath after a day of play but it would cling stubbornly, like love does to those that allow it to work it’s magic.
my wedding dress will be gentle and flowing, patterned and textured: feminine in every way.
my bridesmaids will receive personalised bags made from the softest of leather with a button trimming as their thank you gifts.
for favours and thank you’s, i plan to buy each lady a vintage pendant and possibly a bottle of licquer for each man.
the decor will centre around the endless love screen print and varieties of buttons in all shapes and sizes.
instead of confetti, i would like people to pin buttons to each other as reminders of love and how it needs to be stitched into our lives.
i will invite emiliano to play piano for the drinks and reception and also in the chapel. i do so love a good piece of piano music. if it doesn’t rain, then i will have the piano in the middle of the lawn as the centre piece for all the photography.
this modern love will be on the other side of the lens, capturing as only they do: interweaving light and moments.
and i can hear you asking: “where will all of this be happening?” in the magnificent ballyvalone house of course.
call it intimate. call it relaxed. call it close. it will be all this and more.
you are invited.
love,
claire
