Actons Hotel is such a picturesque site for a wedding, what made you decide it was the perfect venue for you?
The refurbishment of the historic hotel has been outstanding with the rooms and grounds renovated to an outstandingly high standard. The quality of the service, food, and layout of the venue is second to none. The walled garden was the most beautiful and comfortable area to have not just the arrival wedding reception but also breakfast, lunches and dinners the days before and after the wedding. Last but not least the access to the village and views of the harbour are outstanding!
Did you have a wedding theme?
No, but the settings and dressing that Acton’s provided in their package was amazingly beautiful with dressed chairs and gold sashes. It worked perfectly with the summer flowers of daisies and fresh light colours of the bridal parties suits and dresses.
Tell us all about the dress!
Oh where to start, it was fabulous and I loved every minute of wearing it. Silk and 1920’s in style it made me feel beautiful and the best part it was it wasn’t too restrictive to dance the night away in!!
What is your favourite moment from the day?
It really was amazing from start to finish. Our faces were sore from smiling all day when we eventually called it a night. If I could do it all again tomorrow I wouldn’t change a thing!
Did you have a first dance song?
Fly me to the moon – by Frank Sinatra
With Acton’s staff transforming the layout seamlessly after dinner the large dance floor gave us plenty of room to perform our first dance routine, which went down a treat with entertaining our guests.
There is a lot of planning involved in a wedding day, did you enjoy the planning and build up?
I loved every minute of the lead up and it was made so easy by Mary K O’Donovan in Actons Hotel. She helped me with everything from the menus (the food was amazing) booking and organising of the layout, the look of the rooms and the booking of the wedding parties into the hotel during the days before and after. Every one of our guests had the most amazing time and have nothing but amazing feedback of all the staff and rooms at the hotel.
There was also amazing help from the girls in Daisy Chain in the village they went above and beyond to make the most amazing bouquets and flowers for the hotel and even organised vintage VW vans to drive us around in style.
Our photographer was also the most amazing wedding planner on the day of the wedding so much so that everything flowed seamlessly as soon as he arrived. He got everyone’s timing organised through the whole day and made everyone so relaxed and at ease. I have the most amazing photos of all my family and friends and the most fun I’ve ever had. Ted really made us all feel special.
Some of the most fun photos we had were taken around the hotel in the fantastic bridal suit’s amazing roll top bath and sneaky elevator shots!
What made Actons of Kinsale stand out from other venues?
The hotel is decorated to the highest standard so it was a joy to stay there but by far the best asset of the venue was Mary and all the staff. They treated us and our guests like royalty and they brought us off to relax at different parts during the day to catch our breaths and have some champagne and food. It was the most amazing day of our lives.
