Real Winter Wedding At The Glenroyal Hotel

I have a delightful winter wedding for you to feast your eyes on! Amanda and Keith celebrated their special day at The Glenroyal Hotel in County Kildare. With a polka dot wedding cake, personalised poems as favours and some ‘Dirty Dancing’ moves, this wedding seems to have been a real treat! Amanda noticed each of the little things the staff of The Glenroyal Hotel did to make her wedding day everything she had ever wished for. And I think it’s safe to say she has no regrets! But let’s ask the lady herself;

1. Hi Amanda. When did you celebrate your wedding in The Glenroyal Hotel?

Thursday, 8th December 2011.

2. Did you choose a particular theme for your wedding? What 3 words would describe it?

We went for a Christmas wedding. Magical, Quirky, Perfect.

3. What was it about The Glenroyal Hotel that won you over when choosing your ideal wedding venue?

Originally it was their there VERY competitive wedding packages, but once we stepped in the door and met the team it was purely the staff that made us book our wedding there. They were all so welcoming, friendly, professional, and Kate the Conference & Banqueting Manager was just all a bride could wish for; her attention to detail, her calming affect when you start to have one of those bridezilla moments. Nothing was too much trouble……And I was kind of fussy!!!!

3. What was the one thing at The Glenroyal Hotel that made your wedding day all you had wished for?

There simply wasn’t JUST ONE thing. It was all of the little things, the little touches, the staff……they simply went the EXTRA MILE.

4. What did you have on your wedding menu?

  • Glass of House Wine Per Person
  • Melon with a Raspberry Coulis
  • Vegetable Soup
  • Turkey, Ham & Stuffing, served with Vegetables & Potatoes (which was meant to be a chicken dish, but they kindly let me change it)
  • Red Berry Tarte

5. We love cake here at the WeddingDates HQ! Tell us about your wedding cake..

Well it wasn’t your typical cake, I wanted people to remember it, for it to stand out. I decided I would match my cake to my not so traditional shoes (Irregular Choice Ladybug). It was 4 tiers of chocolate biscuit heaven, stacked like presents would be under a tree. It was red & white polka dot.

6. What was your favourite part of the day?

It had to of been the moment you start to walk down the aisle and see all your friends & family there to support you. You feel very nervous, excited, scared your going to fall in front of everyone and then you look up and see your soon to be husband, and the way he is looking at you, you know then this is what you have planned & waited for. Then suddenly there is a rush of calm throughout.

7. Did you have wedding favours?

Yes I did, I had little bags which I filled with Lindt Chocolates, and a personalised thank you poem.

8. What one piece of advice would you give to brides to be?

It is your wedding not everyone elses, do you what you and your partner want. Do not let others plan your day. And don’t be afraid to do things different.

9. What is the one moment from your wedding day you will never forget?

When my husband pulled the ‘Dirty Dancing’ lift on me, I didn’t even think he knew what Dirty Dancing was!

Thanks to Amanda and Keith for sharing their special day with us! How would you like to celebrate your wedding day at The Glenroyal Hotel? Check availability for this wedding venue.
