Stresses in Wedding Planning – Wedding Guests

wedding stress - wedding guests

Believe it or not the bride and groom do stress about the guests. There are a few areas where this stress come up:

The Guest List
Firstly the actual guest list: who to invite – work colleagues, cousins, Dad’s golfing friends, college friends, where to even begin.

Tip: Set a realistic budget. How many guests can you afford to have? Do you want to have a small intimate wedding or a bigger affair with more guests? How many guests can the venue cater for?

The Seating Plan
Please do not waste hours of your lives that you will never get back on where your wedding guests sit at your wedding. They will have a good time regardless of whom they are sitting with.

The Music
Couples often worry about whether their guests will enjoy the music at the wedding and hope that they will dance all night. Remember – do not book a band or music for your wedding based on a handful of guests. What kind of band would you like? Will it appeal to most of the crowd? Just because guests are not dancing does not mean they are not enjoying themselves.

The Food
I have heard so many times “We can’t have lamb as a main course because Aunty Mary doesn’t eat lamb!” Do not plan your wedding reception meal based on a dear aunt or a handful of people.
Tip: Speak to the chef, ask for their advice. What food is in season? What do you want? What do you like?

Weddings are happy and joyous celebrations. Your wedding guests will have a wonderful time celebrating your marriage – just make sure you do too!
