Needless to say, capturing the magic of your wedding day is pretty important. Wedding Photographer Paul Duane gives us his tips on how to take amazing wedding photos on your day.
Window + make up = beautiful shots. Having your makeup done by a large(ish) open window can result in beautiful, stunning and soft makeup photos full of natural light. No matter what the weather is like outside the natural light coming through will provide a fantastic natural effect to your features. position yourself with plenty of space to let your photographer work around you and use the light to get the best possible results
Meet with your photographer and talk about the photos that you want to capture. Don’t leave things to chance, visit some locations that you would like to use in your shots, this is best done at roughly the same time of day that you will go there on your wedding day. Practice how you might stand with your partner, bear in mind that you could be wearing a large wedding dress on your big day, but also make sure you are both comfortable.
Posing for photos can be hard work, you have limited time on your wedding day so it should be fun also. One shot I like to try out with couples is to sit them down on some stairs in a quiet place, stand well back and have the bride whisper something in the grooms ear. It can be anything, and I never know what is said, that is between the couple, but some of the looks from the grooms are priceless. And it also make a nice easy intimate shot without any fuse.
Your wedding ring is such an important part of your day and an important symbol for the rest of your life. It is also very small and hard to capture without a little help. When you exchange rings, and if you really want to get a shot of your ring being placed on your finger, remember to turn your hand slightly towards your photographer, and use two fingers to gently place the ring on.
