They say, one of the best places to meet someone is at a wedding!
That’s exactly what happened with these two lovebirds! Roisin and Paudie chose to celebrate their own “I Do’s” at the lovely and luxurious 4* Abbey Manor Hotel in Roscommon, which went above and beyond their expectations. After a storybook engagement in Central Park, while on holiday for Paudie’s 30th birthday, Paudie and Roisin were able to start their new chapter in style. Take a look at their story and stunning snaps by photographer Daniel Kowalczyk…
P.S.- Their wedding cake is a must-see…totally glamorous with a fun surprise! ?
The Beginning
“We met at a wedding!! Paudie’s sister Michelle got married to my first cousin Derrick, and that is where we first met, although we knew about each other before that because my brother was friends with Paudie and I had heard my brother talk about him! Paudie knew about me too but we never met until the day of his sister’s wedding! It was my mum that introduced me to Paudie in Cloonacauneen Castle on the 5th September 2009.”
The Proposal
“We went to New York in October 2016 for Paudies 30th Birthday. While we were in New York, Paudie proposed to me on Bow Bridge in Central Park, with the most beautiful ring that he picked out himself! It was a big relief to him once he had popped the question and I said Yes!”
The Venue
“We chose the Abbey Manor Hotel because we were looking for somewhere a little different and we just loved the hotel itself (the beautiful grounds, castle/manor style hotel, friendly staff, modern décor and delicious food). It is the perfect setting for a wedding and everyone we dealt with were professional, welcoming and extremely helpful. It was perfect from start to finish and the hotel staff and indeed management are excellent at their job. It is lovely to see the Greally family still running the hotel (Tom, Adrian, Geraldine) and them being present in the hotel on a daily basis, especially for events like weddings shows the level of dedication and commitment they have to make sure every customer is happy and satisfied.”
“So many of our guests commented on the warm welcomes they received, fabulous food and excellent service. The hotel looked fantastic; the sun was shining, the gardens and lawns were manicured, flowers in full bloom and the hotel itself was immaculate. The newly refurbished ballroom looked beautiful and the drinks reception & canapes outside as people arrived, really impressed! Tom, Adrian & Lisa (our wedding coordinator) were so professional and ensured everything ran smoothly on the day – the timing of the food, speeches, music, tea /coffee & cake was all perfect. Nothing ran over time as they had excellent control over the events of the whole day. We can’t thank you enough and would most definitely recommend The Abbey Hotel to any future couples.”
The Photographer
“Daniel was so easy to work with! His style of photos are fabulous, very natural, casual and not posed. He is really very talented at what he does! On the day itself, he really put us at ease and was very relaxed. He got the most beautiful photographs of our wedding and captured so many special memories we will have forever!”
Special Moments
“The most special and memorable moment of our wedding day was when the priest asked me up to dance with my dad, Thomas, at the foot of the altar as a family friend, Johnny Donnellan, sang ‘On your wedding day’ by Jimmy Buckley. I waltzed with dad in the church and soon the rest of the bridal party joined us too! Before the song ended, I had my first dance with my new husband Paudie as he took my hand and my dad danced with my mum. It was such an amazing, special moment of the day they really stood out for us both.”
