When it comes to the perfect wedding photo, we all may know it when we see it, but what is it about the wedding photo that makes it so good? We’ve asked Aidan from The Picture Rooms to give us three things that make a great wedding photo.
Emotion
Lets be honest, weddings are all about emotion. As a wedding photographer it’s your job to capture that emotion in the most natural way possible. You must teach yourself to be a couple of steps ahead of everything that’s going on around you. You must also anticipate the moments before they happen. Sometimes you can get lucky but its about being prepared and being in the right place at the right time. Experience will be your best friend in learning how to achieve this.
Light
Great lighting is an essential part of any great image. Weddings can move fast so you must be able to find the best light as quickly as possible. When I walk in a room the first thing I look for is the direction and quality of the light. Beautiful soft window light can be used to take some really flattering images of the bride and groom. As a wedding photographer you must understand how light behaves and how it can be controlled.
Creativity
At The Picture Rooms, we like to get creative with our wedding photography. This can be achieved by playing with composition, using depth of field or controlling light. It’s about thinking outside the box and creating a style that makes you stand out from the crowd. As a wedding photographer you must use all your experience and techniques to capture stunning images in creative way.
