Top 10 2012 Wedding Trends

As we welcome in the first weekend of 2013 I decided to take a look back at best wedding trends of 2012. Last year was certainly a colourful and eventful year for all things wedding related! We saw patterned bridesmaids dresses, late night food stations, rustic wedding themes and much much more! We are very excited to see what new and exciting wedding themes 2013 will bring. But before that, lets take a look back at my Top 10 wedding trends of 2012. Which one was your favourite?

10. Dessert Tables

Forget your standard tiered wedding cake, dessert tables were very on trend last year! This gave great variety for your guests, with many couples asking friends and family to bring homemade cakes to serve up. Delicious!

9. Tea Length Wedding Dresses

Very stylish, easy to move around in and a great way to show off your wedding shoes! Tea length wedding dresses made a big appearance in 2012. I just love a 50s style tea length dress teamed with a red lip!

8. Brooch Bouquets

Add a bit of glam to your wedding look with a brooch wedding bouquet. Find one to suit your exact wedding colours and what better you will have your bouquet as a keepsake for years to come!

7. Country House Venues

Brides and grooms wanted unique wedding venues with a bit of personality to celebrate their special day. I saw a lot of weddings held in country houses and marquee weddings in the grounds. There is something so homely about a country house wedding!

6. DIY Wedding

The DIY wedding trend continued throughout 2012 with more and more couples getting their hands stuck into creating the finer details for their wedding day such as escort cards, wedding decor and even wedding favours.

5. Photobooths

A great way to inject some fun into your wedding reception! Many weddings featured a photobooth stocked with a variety of different props and fancy dress items. I think it is important to capture some alternative wedding photographs as well as your professional images

4. Blush Wedding Dresses

I just love the romantic look of a blush wedding dress! Jessica Biel even followed this wedding trend when she married Justin Timberlake in October. This was a great option for a bride who wanted to add a little colour without going wild!

3. Alternative Groom and Groomsmen Attire

The tux was given a back seat last year with more and more grooms and their groomsmen opting for a more trendy look. We saw plenty of blazers, checked shirts and even colourful bow ties. I am definitely for the alternative grooms attire!

2. Mismatched Bridesmaids Dresses

Gone are the days where you must pick one colour and style dress for your bridesmaids and pray they all like it! Mismatched dresses were seen everywhere in 2012 and I thought they looked amazing. The contrast looks fab in wedding photography!

1. Grey and Yellow Wedding Colours

This is one trend you could not have missed in 2012! I must say I was surprised at how fantastic both these colours looked together. These colours were seen in items such as the wedding decor, groomsmen ties and wedding bouquets I think this is one trend we will certainly see again!
