5 Honeymoon Roadtrips To Put On Your Bucket List

Because sometimes the journey really is the best part of the whole trip!

Some of my favourite bloggers have been roadtrippin’ it up during summer 2016. And, it has got me in a serious state of wanderlust.

Inspired by the open road, here’s my top five honeymoon roadtrips to add to your bucket list.

The Wild Atlantic Way – Ireland

jk

It would be sheer madness not to include The Wild Atlantic Way in the top five. Right on our very own doorstep – this is a fabulous option for those on a budget who may be opting for a mini moon.

Over 2,500km of spectacular and diverse coastline stretching from West Cork up to the very tip of Donegal’s shores. Untamed beauty, rugged landscapes and full of Irish charm – what is not to love!

Don’t Miss: The Cliffs of Moher, The Burren and Connemara.

The Big Sur – California

Retro Flame - The Big Sur

If you’re honeymooning it up in San Fran, a jaunt up the infamous Highway 1 is highly recommended. The stunning scenic route hugs the Pacific Ocean and the unique micro-climate of the region provides some enchanting sights.

The area is a tourist trap, with many people rushing their journey to make time. Don’t rush and try to wander off the beaten track at times to enhance your Big Sur experience.

Don’t Miss: McWay Falls and Pfeiffer Beach.

The Great Ocean Road – Australia

The Great Ocean Road

Summer Bay ain’t got nothing on this beaut! If you’re the ultimate adrenaline junkie, countless misty waterfalls scuba diving and surf breaks will keep you entertained on your journey.

Don’t Miss: The Twelve Apostles

The Amalfi Coast – Italy

Positano

The winding roads are a novelty in themselves, hiring scooters to navigate your way along the coast is a must.

Glistening waters, colourful villages and some of the most beautiful Catholic churches in the world makes the Amalfi Coast one of the most romantic places on Earth. Don’t even get me started on the food!!

Don’t Miss: The flower-filled streets of Positano and Bagni della Regina Giovanni – pack lunch and take a dip in the peaceful lagoon outside the town of Sorrento.

Route 66 – USA

Route 66

The mother of all road trips. Route 66 is probably the easiest to plan as many travel agents offer special rate packages.

Covering eight states from Illinois to California, this will suit you perfectly if you’re hoping to squeeze tonnes of USA highlights into your trip. Full of totally weird and wonderful attractions, you certainly won’t be bored!

Don’t Miss: Springfield, Illinois for its random only-in-America attractions such as Shea’s Gas Station and kitschy American diners such as the Snow-Cap Drive In at Seligman, Arizona.
