Getting married in “The Kingdom” never looked so good!
If you’ve ever thought of getting married in Kerry you’ll have your mind made up after seeing this gorgeous couple’s day. Sandra and David were lucky enough to tie the knot in one of Ireland’s most scenic spots and sure have the photos to prove it! The lovely pair celebrated their wedding day at the stunning Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort, nestled in the charming town of Kenmare. Known for the unrivalled beauty of their natural surroundings and attention to detail, the Kenmare Bay Hotel was an easy choice for the couple’s Christmas time wedding.
Don’t miss Sandra & David’s breathtaking shots taken by photographer Mark Coombes. Soon you’ll be booking your day in Kenmare too!
The Beginning
“We both met quite casually. Sandra used to work in a really busy petrol station where I used to call into for any possible reason I could think of! We ended up having some mutual friends and met each other on a night out until one weekend I plucked up the courage to message her on Facebook for her number and fortunately, she gave it to me. We were together 6 amazing years until we got engaged.”
The Proposal
“Well, I had bought the engagement ring exactly 12 months to the day before I popped the question. Sandra always warned me that she wanted her nails done if the opportunity ever arose to get on one knee so I booked a weekend away in Killarney in the Europe hotel, booked Sandra in to get her hair and nails done while I headed to the hotel to prepare the room. I scattered rose petals around the room, with a heart shape of rose petals on the bed, candles and chocolates lining a footpath from the door of the room to me on one knee with a rose in one hand and a shiny diamond ring in the other with Ed Sheeran’s Perfect playing in the background and a big bottle of champagne on ice. As she entered the room and begun to take in what was happening, the tears started to roll, hers and mine, she walked towards me and stood in front of me as I asked the big question ‘will you marry me?’ emotions were quite high but I did hear a yes through the tears.”
The Venue
“We did quite a bit of looking around for wedding venues, locally and also in the Killarney and Kenmare area as Kerry became a bit of a soft spot for us. But as soon as we walked through the doors of Kenmare Bay Hotel, and met Tom, Síle and team, we got this really good feeling about the place. We immediately felt like we were more than just a number to everyone at Kenmare Bay. From the 1st time we met, and still to this day Tom, Síle and the team have been fantastic. From the big things to the little things, nothing was an issue.
Really have to commend them on their service and attention to detail. It’s the small things that you never think of on the day that they look after and show their professionalism. The wow factor for us has to be the standard of food and the amount of it. They even surprised Sandra with her favourite dessert (gluten free brownie). They went above and beyond to make sure our special day was so so special. Still to this day, our guests still complement the hotel.”
The Photographer
“Working with our photographer,
Mark Coombes, was a real pleasure. We had seen a sample of his work when he did my brothers wedding. The quality and standard of his work was second to none, top notch. You wouldn’t even know he was there. He slotted in with all the guests and popped up to capture all those important moments, but boy does he have an eye for that special photo. His years of experience really shows with his finished product.”
Trends & Themes
“As our wedding was at Christmas, the theme was already set but we added our own few touches like naming the tables with our favourite Christmas songs and getting hand made personalized Christmas/wedding crackers as part of our weddings favors. We had a coffee cart outside the church which was a real hit with guests on a fresh December morning.”
Wedding Attire
“Sandra’s dress was from Áibhéal of Adare, her 100th shop visit, but had an amazing experience there. I got my suit and suits for my 6 groomsmen in Morley’s menswear in cork city and were a pleasure to deal with.”
Memorable Moments
“The highlight of our day was the ceremony and having all our family and friends together in the one place with us. The fact that we had the sunniest day in December was the icing on the cake.”
Special Thoughts
“It really was the happiest day of our life so far.”
