Why do you need to know Viva Magenta? Well it’s only the Colour of the Year for 2023 as chosen by The Pantone Color Institute. And we love it!
The Pantone Color Institute captures the latest trends across a variety of industries, including fashion, beauty, technology, design, and home decor. Pantone is a global organisation that categorises printing ink colour, and their colour reference system has been used worldwide by designers in all disciplines since the 1960s.
So how do you describe Viva Magenta? The Institute itself describes it as ‘brave and fearless, a pulsating colour” It also uses words like “fearless” but somewhere “between warm and cool.”
The original Pantone Magenta is a purple pink colour used in process printing. However Viva Magenta is a take on this that has more red in the mix. It’s a colour that nods to the burgundy and plum that we’ve seen in wedding colour palettes over several seasons, but is not as vibrant as the hot pinks and magentas of last year. To us, it’s a strong warm rich, reddish pink that speaks straight to the heart. We are obsessed.
Pink and reds are synonymous with love, romance and optimism. And, Viva Magenta’s rich red, which suggests passion, power and courage. There is a lot of strength in its tone, and we’re confident this shade is sure to be everywhere this coming wedding season.
The beauty of this colour is that it sits beautifully within those colour palettes that we love – plum, burgundy, pink, crimson, and it looks spectacular with whites, creams, and even oranges. ‘Powerful and empowering’, Viva Magenta is a must have for the 2023 wedding season. Expect to see it in dresses, flower bouquets, headpieces, accessories, table decor and floral arrangements at a wedding near you.
Wrap some of this stunning shade around your wedding planning this year. An “unconventional colour for an unconventional time”.
